Chimpanze Description: Family Pongidae. Ranges from Sierra Leone and Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean to Lakes Tanganyika and Victoria. Diurnal (active by day) and omnivorous, eating about 200 kinds of leaves and fruit, ants, honey, birds' eggs and birds. The gestation period is more than 7 months long. Male chimp is 1-1.7m tall when upright and the female is somewhat smaller.
