Yak Description: Native to the high plateaus and mountains of Central Asia. A massive animal blanketed with a thick coat of long blackish-brown hair. May be more than 2 m high at the shoulder. Feeds on grass, lichens and ground vegetation. Gives birth to one calf after a gestation period of 9 months. The female yak is known as a Nak.
